A two night tramp can be done independently without tour company if planned well. The old school house Doc hut is great, lots of history.

This track is amazing, the wide open views are great and much better than a track that is only a forest experience. The facilities are really great and the quality of the lodges makes it hard to believe you are in absolute wilderness. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Altogether a really great, much recommened experience.

It's paradise. The end of the world. always make sure you're on the signed track (esp at the beginning).

The view from the top is worth even coming to NZ. The Heli (optional) was expensive but we were honeymoon lazy. Walk up and save a bit. Premium rooms are good for couples.

Hi guys! Glad you enjoyed your trip, our upgrade rooms are really popular. We get lots of positive feedback about our hot showers and private super king beds - where else can you get that kind of luxury on three day a walking track (and nearly a kilometer high) in New Zealand?

A very good experience. The climb on 1st day was through a variety of types of beautiful bush.(not as difficult as we believed it to be).Beautiful veiws above the clouds at the top and a lovely lodge.Day 2 Down was entirely different bush and amazing viaducts.(lovely lodge)Day 3 was a nice bush and beach walk.Good and caring Guides.

Yes - diveristy! Thats our little gem - we have a bit of everything - from towering tors and beautiful tarns on the ridge to massive engineering masterpeices you walk over (the largest wooden viaduct in the world) and the graceful Hectors' dolphin which lives at Port Craig and loves to surf the waves at bluecliffs beach. Like you said Owen - even our bush changes - from goblin forrests and twisting trees to beautiful ferns gardens below our giant natives. love it.

Some of the most amazing scenery I have seen in New Zealand. I saw the best sunsets. Just perhaps a little too many steps.
