Rarawa Beach Camping Ground is situated just behind the beach. Get you own spot nestled in amongst the trees. The beach can be quite dangerous due to it's exposed nature, so take care while swimming. The last part of the road to get here is gravel. There is a rubbish disposal at the Houhora rubbish station which is serviced by DOC rangers everyday during the paek season.

Great quiet place! There are many sites and it’s only a short walk to the beach.
Cold showers and toilets are available.
We paid $26 for 2 adults.

Lovely spot to park up, a few other campers but didn't actually see anyone. Did not use showers as a not warm enough yet to have a cold shower, toilets were fine. Nice short walk to beach which is a gorgeous beach. We parked near the stream, no problems with mosquitos and had the bonus of a tree full of nesting birds beside us.

Good spot if you are going to the Cape Reinga lighthouse. Not much there and probably a bit expensive for a DOC campsite, but on a nice day the beach is nice.

Unique location at a beach with incredible white sand. We loved the waves! Safe swimming in the stream is possible. The facilities are basic as expected with a basic DOC site. Acceptable drop toilets and cold showers. Bring your own water and food. $26 for two persons.

DOC website mentions mozzies, but picked a windy night to be here and they weren't a problem. $13/night, decent facilities. Unsealed metal road to access is in great shape. Open sites and some shaded/more private ones too; saw a few folks with hammocks set up. Lots of birdsong. Lovely.

Great location by the beach. It is very very busy in summer, to the point that there was no water available at the campsite. Almost nowhere to camp
