Marlborough’s second-largest town with a population of approximately 4500 people, Picton is located in an impressive setting in upper Queen Charlotte Sound, in the inlet known as Picton Harbour.
Picton is steeped in history, starting with early Maori and followed by Captain Cook who visited Queen Charlotte Sound on his great explorations. The early whaling days, gold mining, fishing, port and tourism industries have all enriched the town with fascinating stories and historic sites.
Picton has grown into a beautiful waterside holiday town with some of New Zealand’s best marina facilities, along with great shopping, dining and services. Picton is also the inter island ferry terminal for travel across Cook Strait to Wellington.
Visitors will find it a fantastic base for exploring the Marlborough Sounds that make up one-fifth of New Zealand’s entire coastline. The country's most popular waterways for boating and kayaking, the Sounds are most famous for the Queen Charlotte Track that runs almost the entire length of New Zealand’s Queen Charlotte Sound. The track stretches from Ship Cove to Anakiwa – 70 kilometre (approximately 45 miles) of spectacular walking/biking track passing through historic sites, secluded bays and lush coastal bush.
Picton is also a great base for exploring attractions across the wider region, such as Marlborough's world-class wineries just a twenty-minute drive away. Wine tours run daily from central Picton.
Just one kilometre from the town centre, Picton Top 10 Holiday Park is ideally situated to take advantage of all the area has to offer, whether you wish to take a cruise, explore the Queen Charlotte Track, or simply stroll around the town, marina and foreshore stopping to enjoy a great coffee, food and wine in one of our many local cafés.

Probably the very best Top 10 we’ve ever stayed at. Helpful, knowledgeable and pleasant staff. Site was everything we could have wanted sparkling clean amenities - 2 hair dryers in the ladies. Music playing in the bathrooms a plus, as was the coffee in the morning. Can’t recommend it highly enough. Easy walk over the bridge into town. A must stay place.

Clean everything, nice showers, bathrooms, and laundry. Close walk to the harbor and to downtown to have a pint or two. Friendly and helpful staff. Multiple different types of sites, even non power van parking.

Depending on the site you could be packed right on top of your neighbour. Had to close our windows and use earplugs to drown out the snores. However bathrooms are spotless and it’s a ten minute walk into town. Nice staff.

Awful customer service from Peter the ‘owner’/manager. Dingy facilities and small sites. Was really the worst TOP 10 we have been to.
Don’t waste your time guys - go to Parklands Marina down the road. Amazing service and grounds and 10GB of WiFi per device!!!!!
Each camping location is approved by a regional council in NZ. So if it shows on the map, you’re allowed to stay.

Very good campsite! A bit more expensive we were $118 for 2 nights with electric but you definately get what you pay for, very clean toilets and showers, laundry facilities plus drying areas, big kitchen area, bbqs TV and games room and a pool. Very close to the town center so you can leave your van and go for a drink and stunning surroundings. The only thing for me was there wasn't enough showers for the size of the site.

Enjoued our stay here. Great facilities. Multiple toilets/ bathrooms/ laundry areas. Two sky TV's available 24/7. The games room is pretty cool. And a nice big kitchen area. The male owner is a bit odd, walked into the women's bathroom twice during my stay, at weird times, saying "clean up" or something similar. Felt a bit uncomfortable but nothing major. Would still come back.

04Oct18. Our usual stop before/after the ferry. 2 nights.
Friendly reception.
Some pitches are close to trees which effectively shortens the pitch. If you have a long and/or high vehicle let them know.
Push buttons for the showers, outside the cubicles.
Close to town via the marina. We saw a few rays in the water, one just resting right underneath where we stood.

Much nicer than the places in Picton. Quieter, cleaner, and a short walk from a pretty marina with a decent restaurant. Just 3km from ferry docks too.

The sites were small and it cost $50 a night. The people there were filling in for the owners and were very obliging. The facilities were nice and clean. Here is a good bit of advice, if you find chestnuts on the ground, just up above the spa pool complex, DON'T eat them. They look like the regular sweet ones but they are horse chestnuts and poisonous! Being a bit of a scavenger, I collected and cooked some up, one bite fixed me. Looking on the net it was a big no-no. A handy place to stay to catch the ferry.

Friendly check in lady. Campsite much smaller and older facilities than Kaikoura, as many have said, but it still had a nice feel. Some complimentary WiFi. We stayed for the location - just a 10-15 minute stroll to town through the marina which is very pretty. Picton is a lovely little place.
